The Highland-Russia Connection Charity, based in Nairn, promotes Scottish culture in Russia and Russian culture in Scotland. It runs dance groups for children, organises entertainment and exhibitions as well as displays and talks for schools and local community groups. It is delighted to announce it has been awarded a debbie & andrew's micro-sponsorship for use in support of its Commonwealth Ceilidh celebration on 21st June in Nairn.

This award is for £500 of seed funding and includes £30.00 worth of free debbie & andrew's sausages to help with fund raising events. The Commonwealth Ceilidh coincides with the Get Scotland Dancing project, with Ceilidhs being staged all around the world on the 21st June 2014. Dances have been specially choreographed to celebrate the Commonwealth Games, using local talents with the many Commonwealth people resident in the area.

To add flavour to the event, the organisers are providing food and the debbie & andrew’s sausages will be an excellent addition to the meal. Our Ceilidh is to be held in the Royal British Legion, Nairn and the sausages will be barbecued, weather permitting! With dancing, food, and the Commonwealth games to celebrate, this will be a great event providing the opportunity for the whole community to get together with old acquaintances and meet new friends. The event is free and open to all, but is limited by tickets due to size of the venue. To add to the spectacle and contribute to the international atmosphere, attendees are asked to wear their national costume, if possible.

The photo shows the dancers and performers with the Rafford church Committee members, and was taken at the latest fundraising event held in Rafford Hall on 9th May. More pictures from the night are available on the Facebook page here.
