News from the Farm

Hello Everyone

So much has happened in the last few weeks indoors and out!

The BIG story of the past months has been our new packaging which you seem to love! Our sales went up straight away after we changed over and Debbie and I have had lots of feedback that it makes the packs easier to find on shelves and you like the recycled cardboard. Do let us know what you think!

Plus we've had great news on our children's sausage, Ellie and Roddy's, as ASDA have now agreed to stock it plus you can find them in Sainsburys. So hopefully we can roll this out nationwide very soon. Plus you might have seen last week's Sunday Express and Antony Worrall Thompson giving E&R's great marks in his chipolata taste tests! If you are in a BBQ mood (I certainly am after last weekend!) you must try our new Honey and Paprika Jumbo Sausage or our Roasted Garlic Jumbo. Now available in Sainsburys and they are absolutely delicious!

Our Fair Trade for Farmers campaign achieved nationwide press coverage and increased the pressure for everyone to grant farmers a fairer deal. We don’t want to stop now though, so we have decided now to nominate a charity for D&A this year and have chosen Farm Crisis Network (See www.farmcrisisnetwork.org.uk.) This is a great charity which helps farmers facing hardship and anxiety with a multitude of issues from housing to paperwork. So we have put out heads together for the best way to raise some money and (thinking on the lovely new welly logo on our packaging!) we've come up with welly wanging!!!

Yes that means throwing a welly as far as you can, bet you didn't know there's even a World Championship Welly Wanging Competition every year? Well we're going to be scouring the nation for the best Welly Wangers to see if we can get a team together and the entry fees will all go to FCN. The first heats are at the Yorkshire YFC County Show on June 1st, everyone's welcome so drop us a line if you want to have a go!

Finally you'll be seeing even more of us this year as we have decided to increase the number of shows we are attending, adding many smaller local and county shows in the NE and NW regions. I will be updating the shows list as we book them so keep an eye on our shows page to see if we are visiting your local show!
